Temporary import/export

Hi Guys, who is the expert on the above. We need to send some equipment to New Zealand as we are working out there but every 3 months it needs to come back to the UK to be calaborated. Hence we needed a temporary import/export license. Someone else has dealt with it not me and I am sure its wrong as the cost just to send it out has now gone over 3k which seems high to me and it has to come back to the UK and go back out to NZ. Even if you point to a website, anything will be useful.
