A client of mine has supplied goods to the Irish Revenue & Customs - should they have charged VAT? I'm completeing the EC Sales list and don't have a VAT number for this job but feel daft sending an email to xxx@revenue.ie to ask for their VAT number when they ARE the VAT!
I'm very confused now, just when I thought I was getting to grips with this foreign VAT lark...

If they didn't have an EU VAT number, the supply needed to be standard rated, as per usual, I would have thought..
Don't let the fact that it was the Irish VATman confuse you!
If you need to ask them for their EU VAT number, then ask. If they don't have one, invoice them for the UK VAT!

Well I've learned something new today - in Ireland and in the UK revenue & customs are indeed registered for VAT!
what do you think happens if they're late submitting their returns?0 -
