MIP Scheme and ICAEW Provisional Membership

Do any MIPs have any experience of being a student with the ICAEW? According their website they will allow provisional members to engage in public practice so long as they are authorised to do so by a CCAB accountancy body or the AAT.

If anyone has taken up this route do you have to still apply to the ICAEW to inform them that you are doing so, do you do this through their application for a practising certificate?

Finally, what then is the situation when you have be admitted to membership with the ICAEW as you will no longer be a provisional member but the ICAEW still require you to have 2 years post qualification experience to receive their practising certificate?

If anyone has any thoughts/experience on this I would be interested to hear them.

While the Institute allow it you also need express permission from the QPTR.

ICAEW will not give you a practicing certificate! You practice under the banner of the AAT making no reference to the ICAEW at all!
