Hello
I have to analyse data into the trend and seasonal variations using a five point moving average.
Can anyone tell me why in five point moving average the trend starts with the 3 position?
The task is :
A shop is open 5 days a week (Tuesday to Saturday) and records cash sales over a three week period ( PDF attachment)
I know how to calculate it but why the trend will not appear with Wednesday?
Please help ...

It starts Wednesday because it's 5 point, so you use Mon Tue wed thurs Fri to calculate wed, so you need the 2 days before, so you can't do Tuesday because you only have 1 day before
If you was doing 3 point then you can start from Tuesday, Mon Tue wed to calculate tue0
