Hi

I usually use the HMRC software for limited company CT600 (at the same time filing accounts at Companies House)

I have just taken on a new client with a first set of accounts that cover 389 days

The HMRC software has sent the accounts off to CH without problem but I have run into difficulties due to the long period of account.....I think I need to IXBRL the CT600/company accounts?

As this is the first time in two years that HMRC software is not sufficient for my needs I am reluctant to purchase software that I may not use going forwards....

Any ideas for an economical solution would be gratefully received

You can still use the HMRC software if you want to. One set of accounts covering the whole period is fine but you will need to complete 2 CT600's. One for the first 12 months and one for the remaining period. Allocations between the CT600's on a time basis should be fine.

    Thanks for your reply Wildgoose

.....the problem is that the HMRC software cannot tag the Corp Tax Comps for me (due to the long period of account) and is asking that I attach IXBRL comps to each CT600

Forgive my ignorance on this but I use PTP, does it not have a facility to not attach accounts and explain why you're not attaching accounts?

Where are you based? Maybe somebody would do the returns for you for a fee?

    Apologies!...my bad! :-(

I had misunderstood the wording on the HMRC website.......it is possible to use the HMRC software for tagging tax comps for long periods of account...

Many thanks for the replies :-)
