Has anyone tried the Live Online classes? If so how did you find them?

Two of my colleagues and I are studying CIMA; F1 & P1 with BPP Live Online Classroom and since I studied AAT in a regular classroom environment I'd like to hear feedback from anyone who has studied this way. Also, BPP's materials for CIMA? (I've only used Kaplan books before)

I don't have any experience of BPP Live Online but I used Kaplan for F1 and P1 for the May '12 exams. As a previous AAT classroom studier I was unsure about whether or not I would be suited to an online format but I absolutely love it now. The tutors allow time for everyone and you can ask questions whenever you are unsure of a topic. Again, not sure how BPP operate their lectures but for the ones I had there was a tutor and a tutor assistant, and the tutor assistant is there to answer questions as the lecture progresses. For me the greatest benefit was being able to watch the lectures again as sometimes I couldn't attend the live lectures... and of course watching the lecture in my slippers. :)

    Good luck with your studies!

Ah thank you! I hope that I feel as comfortable as you and if I can re-watch that would be fab! Also, studying with no shoes on, heeeello!

Very excited! First classes are Wednesday and Thursday this week! :D

You're welcome! :) I also liked the length of the lectures, I found it much better than sitting in a classroom for six hours (as much as I enjoyed AAT I felt like sleeping after studying for that long) and I could concentrate better. Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I do! My next Live Online course (F2) starts tomorrow and I really can't wait! :)

Aw wow... yes BPP's are only 2 1/2 hours long. I know what you mean, I used to get very restless towards the end of the day during AAT day release classes.

    Wow, F2! Any tips for F1 & P1? :)

I know what you mean, by the end of the day I didn't want to touch another book! 2 1/2 hours is much nicer and you'll probably get a quick break for a cup of tea in the middle. :)

For F1 your brought forward knowledge from Financial Statements will really help you (groups, consolidation and cash flow statements), along with those pesky IAS/IFRSes. I would say practice learning the proformas and I'm an advocate of making bedroom posters for them (sad, I know!). The same for P1 (so far my favourite paper), learning the proforma layouts will save you so much time in the exam. Lots of question practice too, especially for section B and the written ones! I didn't do anywhere near as much practice for AAT exams as I did for CIMA because they're so different, and you're under a lot of time pressure in the exam hall. Luckily CIMA have all of their past exam papers on the website in the MyCIMA section so you'll never be short of questions to practice on.

F2 looks a bit scary to me but I'm taking E1 too, so lots of writing for me there!

Thanks for the advice, I feel a lot more confident now!

Haha, no way, I made myself a wall of post it notes with standards and proforma in my room too!

Everyone at work has told us that E1 is the easiest paper, just common sense apparently, so I'm sure you will be okay!

I am so looking forward to it! I just hope I get my exemptions through before the 14th of September otherwise I won't be sitting any exams! I havn't got my ICAS feedback yet, its going to be a tight turnaround and I am really starting to panic now, I just want to get on with CIMA! :(
