Digital Signing of Documents

Good afternoon everyone.
As with most practices, we seem to be dealing with more and more correspondence by email and now we use Secure Document Exchange.
This is all great apart from when things need to be signed and returned. Does anybody here have any experience with digital signatures and what about the legality of them?
Thoughts would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks
