VAT Compliance Diploma

I am considering studying the VAT Compliance Diploma which is under the umbrella of the IIT (Inst of Indirect Taxation). As some other members have done, I see this as a way to increasing my knowledge in this particular subject, rather than a route to a full ATT or CIOT qualification.
Although IIT has now merged with CIOT I have been assured that the VAT Compliance Diploma is still a valid achievement in it's own right.
Any comments? Has any one alse taken this course?

I haven't done the diploma but it looks very impressive from a syllabus point of view (very comprehensive).

Also I think it's probably better that the qualification will be from the ciot (rather than the iit) as the ciot is a bigger/better known organisation.

Your only other option would be to sign up with the att and just do their vat exam (i.e. gain a certificate in competency in vat from the att). But i think this option is not as impressive as a vat diploma from the ciot.

Thank you for your comments. The ATT syllabus is not very detailed so it's difficult to compare the two.
Actually I'm not sure if the qualification will be from CIOT. I have been told that it is still under IIT which is of some concern to me. There seems to be a certain vagueness within the relevant organisations in the light of the merger of IIT with CIOT.
