Client is creating a website for a company in Jersey. all the information I can find says not to charge VAT but they don't seem to be part of the EU, so do you just treat it the same as if the customer was in America or elswhere in the world? I guess we don't need a VAT number from the customer?

The Channel Islands are not part of the EU for VAT purposes, and a B2B supply of services is normally outside the scope of VAT.0
