ATT Studies and MiP

Hi All -

I have just become a full-member and the grand plan is to set up a small practise by the end of the year, through the MiP route.

I am thinking of going the ATT route aswell to impove on my tax knowledge, but I thought I read somewhere on one of the posts, that as an MiP you couldn't be a student member of another body. I may have got this all wrong its just that I don't want to scupper anything along the way by taking the wrong route.

All help is very welcome.

    Hi

I think that rule only applies to ACCA.

I don't think ACA, ATT or CTA really mind if you are a student member and a MiP (so long as you don't refer to them). From reading CIMA's website, CIMA doesn't mind if you are a student member and MiP.

Good luck with MiP and ATT.

PS: ATT is an excellent qualification re: tax, especially if you want to set up a practise (you learn lots of good stuff re: personal tax, business tax, VAT, payroll, P11D's, IR35, etc).

    Hi -

Many thanks for the clarification and best wishes, I'll let you know how the grand plan goes.

I'm looking forward to doing the ATT, and was thinking of using Kaplan, does anyone have any preferences regarding course providers..

Cheers again for all the information.
