Nanny not Registered

Hi There
I have a friend who is a Nanny.
She was employed by a family as a live in nanny for four months recently- and paid 600 per month.
The employer did not register as employers as they should have.
She would like to apply for citizenship in a few years so would needs to be able to account for that time and be registered for NI payments or it might look bad for her.

I am advising her as to what to say to the family- does anyone know if the will get in to trouble if they bite the bullet and register with HMRC now? The pay is below the NI thresholds.

I will advise her to ask the family to do this as it is their responsibility, otherwise she may have to explain to the border people later when she makes her application which could get the into worse trouble.

Any Thoughts?
Steve
