Hi its late in the day and my mind has gone blank, working out a directors smp on moneysoft, can a director still receive the regular £600 per month salary plus SSP or must it be £600 in total of which the majority is SSP etc, hope this makes sense.

SSP is still NI'able and taxable, and as far as I'm aware SMP is too (not sure which your query refers to). So I would say your director could only receive £624 per month in total without being liable to NI. As director's NI is recalculated on an annual basis in the final payrun, if you have only paid them £600 per month for the last eleven months, you may be able to pay a bit more this month (presuming you are currently running the March payrun).0
