Hello aat students!
I am re-taking Financial Performance, it's one of my weakest subjects! I took this exam in Dec and found it quite difficult - the exam was very different to the practice ones on myaat. Has anyone taken the exam recently? If so, how did you find it and any tips or key points to remember would be great.
Thank you in advance.

hi
i took the exam in march and i passed first time and got exceeded in all but one of the sections.. I have
no accoutancy job and am self taught so it is possible.
i read early on that the exam was hard so made flash cards with all the variances on, the name on one side and
the formula on the other side with pointers..i know this is sad but i took them everywhere and just kept
going through them when i had a chance....you need to be pretty clued up to the relationship of the
variances...i went over and over the practice assessments
i have to admit i was dreaming about variances but i was not going to waste my £50 exam fee..
good luck if you need any help let me know

Hello Sarah,
Wow congratulations that's really good. I was fine on section 1, I passed that. It was more section 2 - the written question about gross profit and net profit margins. Also the what if questions. Basically section 2 failed me, Variances I am fine on! How did you find section 2?
I am paying £55 to re-take as I'm with Kaplan. Have you finished Level 4 or close to finishing?0 -
Hi.
i found section 2 ok..i think this was due to being so determined i was not going to fail..
i have two exams left the business tax and financial statements and i am awiting the result
for personal tax.....i now just need a job as i took redundancy at the end of april

The written question in section 2 really threw me. I had never come across a question like that before. I also have 2 exams left FNPF and BTX and also awaiting PTX results; the website being down is so annoying!! When will you be taking BTX?

Hi Maryam
Your exam there sounds like when I re sat FNPF just before Christmas for the 3rd time, The out lay etc on Section 2 was something I had never come across and I failed BUT I re sat it again for the 4th time in February and it was a lot more like the practice ones and I passed YAYYYY.
Just need to get through re sits of FNST, PTX and Budgeting now!!0 -
Hello Chelle!
I took it on the 19th of Dec too before Christmas!! Were you on that post where we were complaining about hard it was? It was bloody hard, I had no hope after that exam!! Congratulations on passing it though, I'm glad to hear it was like the practice ones I hope mines is too!! This is my 2nd re-take so fingers crossed.
I am awaiting results on PTX, feedback on ICAS and have BTX left to do.
And of course FNPF re-take next week - any tips would be great too. It's so annoying learning everything again!!0 -
Hi how did you find the financial statements exam ...i have not even looked at that one yet..
I do the courses through premier training, i have found them very good and reasonably priced..
i think i will do ACCA through Kaplan..not sure why..

Hi Sarah, FNST was my first level 4 exam; i tried very hard as I was very motivated and passed The key to that exam is do as many limited company accounts, consolidations, cash flows as possible. Also, make colourful notes of the IAS's and keep writing them out. That's how I learnt it!! I'm sure you'll be fine, good luck. I'm hopefully starting ACCA this year.. Kaplan is really good, very thorough and professional from my experience!0
