Tax exams

I've just completed by BTX exam which I hope will be my last exam. I am waiting on 3 results at the moment ( PTX, BTX and Fin Perf)
Did any one else find the two tax exams difficult as there was so much to learn and you had to know every sentence in the text books and the exams could be different year on year.
I was told by my tutor that the most difficult exams was expected to be Fin Perf and Fin Stats but to me a lot of it was number crunching (especially Fin Perf) and the questions were same every year so to revise you had a fair idea what was coming up in the exam as the past papers seemed to much the same each year.
Hopefully i pass the remaining 3 exams but I have to admit the last year has been a struggle with 2 small children ( 2 1/2 and 1 year old) and a full time job
Good luck to anyone completing the last few exams!!!

I've got my last exam in the morning & it's Personal Tax. Finding it the hardest one mainly as often there are differences & mistakes between the different text books & AAT website. The textbooks don't even mention some stuff that's in the practice tests on the website!
I've also found ambiguous questions like 2.8 in the practice exam. It asks how 5 years working in the UK would be treated under deemed occupation. The rule is you can 4 years for working in the U, but can also have an extra 3 for any reason. So really the answer should be it should be treated as totally deemed occupation. However the answer says it should be part occupation. I mean if that comes up in the exam now, how am I supposed to answer it?
I know all this stuff as well as I can & if I get stupid questions & fail, I'm going to appeal the hell out of it!0 -
I found Business Tax the worst by a long stretch, horrible horrible exam. Am fully expecting my first resit with that one :001_unsure:0

Hi OlyimpicRudi
I have the PT exam tomorrow and wondered how it compared to the online practice.
Any tips for last minute revision?

Hi,
I had to comment on this just purely as you said financial performance was ok! Lol I hated that exam, when I started level 4 everyone said financial performance and financial statements were the worst.. I a bit ashamed to say but I loved the personal tax exam, and business tax was good to!! Financial statements I thought wasn't as bad as everyone said either0 -
Dont be ashamed Kel! I quite enjoyed BTX and PTX too, and I know were not alone. lol0

I sat PTX today, I enjoyed the subject not sure how I did in exam though, fingers crossed. Liked that the written question was quite short and split into two.0

I enjoyed PTX (got my result today).
I've got BTX on Saturday....a lot more to take in!.0 -
Tbh I enjoyed both tax units. I've passed personal tax and have my business tax exam next week. I think their pretty enjoyable subjects if you love calculations. Thinking of doing CTA too. Anyone need any help with either units you can ask me.

Thanks for the replies of those saying you enjoyed it.
I got my PTX book today, was hoping it was a fairly straight forward module.0
