Hi everyone
Has anyone got any experience of using BPP's i-Pass CD ROMs, either for ACCA or another course? If so, I'd be interested to hear your comments on them, would you recommend them or not?
I'm currently struggling with self studying P3 and think it may be because there is just so much to read in the textbook and not a lot of doing. I like the sound of the interactiveness on the CD, and think it might help me remember what I'm reading. How does it work, do you get a series of questions to work through? How long does it take to work through the CD? I'm almost finished reading through the textbook and have just ordered my revision kit - would I be better off just practising exam questions now in the run up to the exam or getting the CD aswell?
Thanks a lot for any help!

Hi Rozzi,
I have used the BPP I-Pass CD's for ATT, I think also AAT but can't remember.
It is pretty much just a bank of questions. You can choose to do questions from a particular topic or you can mix them up. You can do as many as you like or as little. You can do a mock test on there, which is just a set amount of questions for a set amount of time.
The only down sides I can think of are that it is computer marked, so you have to be spot on in your answers, and also that as it is drawn randomly from a bank of q's you get some repeated. But other than that it's a good way of quick fire question practice. You can get advice on each question as you go through or at the end. It gives you percentages for the different sections... so for example, 95% Income Tax, 87% CGT etc etc so you can work on the weaker areas.
Not sure how it would be for ACCA as I'm sure it is a lot more 'wordy' but I would assume similar for some modules.
Have fun!

Hi, I've used them for ACCA. They're OK for bullet point knowledge but obviously they are a long way off being exam standard. They are basically one sentence questions with a choice of answers so only good for testing you know the underlying knowledge. Personally I probably won't get any more because I think if you do all the revision kits, you've probably covered everything anyway.0

I'm happy to pop one of my old ones in the post to you if you want to try one out first.0

Thanks to you both for your quick and helpful replies! That sounds like exactly what I need, I think I'll give it a go. I realise they are nowhere near exam questions, which will be about applying knowledge to a scenario, and I can't just rely on the CD, but at the moment I feel like I have very little knowledge to even take into the exam (I really hope that's not the case and I have managed to learn some things from the textbook!) so I'm hoping doing these quick questions along with practise exam questions will help build my confidence and give me some knowledge to take into the exam and try to apply to the scenarios.
Nps, thanks for your kind offer to send one to me but I think I've made my mind up now.

Hi Rozzi
Good luck for P3. Luckily I passed it in June first time - not so lucky with P2 another fail, so re-sit in December and P6 Adv Tax.0 -
Thanks MS :001_smile: Do you fancy a swap?? I'd happily sit P2 again and you clearly know how to pass P3 hehe. Seriously though, that's great to see you've passed P3 - do you have any tips? Best of luck for your exams in December - hopefully this time you will be able to conquer The Beast! I plan on taking P6 as my first optional paper as well.0
