Payroll qualifications

Hi, I've just started a trainee accountant role, part of which is doing the payroll for 40 people. They've now offered to pay for me to do a payroll qualification. Obviously I don't want to turn down the chance of gaining a free qualification and the more I can get on my CV, the better. My question, is which one to do. I've looked at CIPP, ICB and IAB, as well as in house courses offered by other providers. I don't actually need the qualification to do the work as my colleague is more than capable of explaining anything I don't understand, so I'm more looking into which qualification, out of the many on offer, would look best on my CV in the future. I'm already AAT qualified and am half way through ACCA so is it actually worth doing a basic payroll qualification or will I just be repeating work I've already done? On the other hand, I'm not looking for one of the high level payroll qualifications as ACCA is my main priority for the next 18 months. Something in the middle would be perfect. Are there any payroll experts who know more about the courses I could consider? I self studied AAT and ACCA so would be looking to do the same with this. Any pointers would be much appreciated.....

I,ve done payroll every Friday for the last two years and learnt by experience, you don't need courses imo, believe always something new happenin. So just real life experience as payroll is so vast. I use Sage and one client each month everything happens to them csa, ssp, smp, new starters, leavers, council tax deductions, student deductions etc etc you name they have it, each month I think what now but what experience. Is there a person who knows payroll there because if I was there for example id be better than any course as your guide.......0

Oh I completely agree, but if my employer is willing to pay for me to get a recognised qualification, I'd be mad not to do it. The question is, which one?0
