Hi all,
Congrats to ACCAs passed their exams!
Got my result for F4 yesterday, fail. It means I have to take F4 and F8 altogether this June. I'm also thinking of sitting for a P paper. Any advice which P paper will be a better choice to study with F4 & F8.
I haven't studied auditing related module before. Is it possible to learn by myself just using BPP books?
Thanks guys,
Luciana

Hi Luciana,
Sorry to hear about your result yesterday with F4.
I'd suggest a full revision of all your text and passcards and practice lot's of exam questions in the build up to your resit. The examiner's comments will be very useful too.
As for the P papers, you will not be allowed to sit any until all the F papers are completed successfully under ACCA rules so I'd foget about them for now.
As for F8, I liked it as a paper that did what it said on the tin but I studies auditing at AAT technician level so already had a grounding in the subject. Personally I would not want to sit them together as they are both 100% discursive and 6 hours of writing is a lot.
I'd be more likely to try F4 and F5 but that is purely a personal choice.
As for learning yourself then I'd say, yes it can be done. I've used BPP and Kaplan books and passed my attempted exams using them. Just make sure you use up to date books. Unfortunately BPP and Kaplan continue to price courses for students with financial support from work or with private means and I know a few students, including myself who choice a self study route.

I have passed all my ACCA exams by just purchasing study texts, exam kit book and pocket notes from Kaplan. Not forgetting the free resources (including video presentations) from Opentutition.com
It is possible to learn by yourself as a much reduced cost!:001_smile:0 -
Sorry about your F4 result. In answer to your query, yes you can pass F8 with no experience and only the BPP books - I did it in June. I assume you have passed all the other F papers as you can only sit a P paper if you have either passed all F papers or are sitting the remaining ones in the same sitting as the P paper. In all honesty, I'd concentrate on passing all your F papers before you even think about the P papers.0

Thank you all very much for your kind words and advice. I am goning to pick up my F4 notes and go through them again! For F8, I'll get BPP learning materials to begin with. Hopefully I can handle them all by myself. Thanks again, Luciana0

To echo previous posts - yes it is possible to pass F8 by self studying, I did that even though I hadn't taken auditing at AAT. I didn't much enjoy it though! I would recommend only sitting two papers per sitting, especially if you're self studying, but if you do want to attempt a P paper as well, I think P1 follows on best from F8. That is also a written paper though so will mean doing three written papers together which may be hard going!0

Thank you Rozzi. I will prepare for F4 & F8 now. Just to pass those two first.0
