Hi Everyone,

Just a couple of questions.

I'm studying my F7 study text at present. I bought in in January but due to unexpected circumstances I've not been able to get started until now.

The book says it is alright for exams up to June this year but I don't want to buy another as surely their have not been any big changes?

Secondly I'm working through chapter 3 and I'm noticing questions which I have no clue how to answer and terms I've never heard of. I did AAT but a few of the things I've got no idea about. Has anyone else experienced this?

Mark

    Hi Mark

You should be able to download the syllabus for the December exam from the ACCA website and compare this to the syllabus in the front of your textbook to see if anything has been added. I agree there shouldn't have been any big changes to what's already in the syllabus, not like for the tax exams.

It's been a while since I studied F7 and it was at college rather than self study so I don't remember really struggling. Might it be worth going back over your AAT notes to see if you can fill in the gaps? How long is it since you studied AAT, maybe there have been some things added that you have missed?

    Thanks for the information Rozzi!

I think the book will be alright and I will be getting passcards and the revision kit which will be totally up to date.

It's been a while since I did financial reporting in AAT (2007 I think), as I had a study break before taking on ACCA.

I think I just need to refresh some of the old things from AAT. It's just getting back into it. The papers I've done before have not reflected much of this work.

    Thanks

I found with F7 that I was reading a lot which made no sense at all. It was the first exam where I really wondered if I might have to look for a taught class. Once I got to the end though and went back over things, the earlier stuff made more sense. It was almost like I needed to see the overall picture before the individual bits made sense. Take heart in the fact that I found it really difficult to begin with but ended up passing in the high 80's.

Thanks for your reply NPS. It is comforting to read that as I always worry when I'm starting something new but manage to get things going in the end.

I just need to stay focused and read the book and be patient I think.
