ACCA, providers!

Hi all, been a while since I posted on this forum since I started ACCA.
Basically F5 I took through first intuiton online, liked it but it was quite alot of money, I think some of the others seem to have a similar thing for alot less.
So I was looking at Kaplan & BPP (First Intuiton dont have enough bits in the online only route)
So Kaplan seem to be cheaper than BPP but there are differences like one has 1 mock exam, the other has 2,
rumours are the text books are easier to learn from and one isn't.
Does anyone have any experiences or input on these companies?
Thanks

Have you looked at www.opentuition? Online lectures which sound very similar to those provided by the other companies, but are free.

As I don't have the time any longer to sit and trawl through study texts from cover to cover any more, I tried a different approach for P1. I used www.acowtancy which is a new online resource (owned and produced by an ex BPP tutor). It costs £99 per course but very much trims it down to the essentials. It felt like it wasn't quite finished as things were added after I started it, (plus there are a few bits which could be interpreted as a bit patronising) but together with doing every question in the BPP revision kit, after the exam I felt just as confident than after those where I'd revised every word in the study text.

I personally can't justify the costs that BPP etc charge for online lectures etc.

I'd also add that the BPP text books are very thorough, though I'm beginning to think they are too thorough and if you're just looking to pass rather than score top marks, you might find there is just too much to learn in them.

I'm using www.acowtancy again for P2 and 3 this time as my time is much limited than it was for the earlier exams (you can do the first couple of lessons for free too to see if you like it).

I don't mind having books to go through infact I work better from books and all the writing rather than on screen.
Can you say if Kaplan or BPP books are better I suppose is what its boiling down too now. I don't want to have to go over a millon examples of each issue :/ thats what the provider is for at the end of the day!

I've only used a Kaplan book for one exam (F2) and it seemed a bit more basic than the BPP one (whether that is a good or a bad thing depends on what you want to achieve I guess).

I thought exactly the same as you originally - working from the books and learning every bit was the best way to do it (and I quite enjoyed it) - then I suddenly found myself with a full time job with overtime, 2 children under 4 and realising that no one cares if you pass with 95% or 51% so I started looking for a quicker way to achieve a basic pass.

I still prefer working from books but I have yet to find one that consolidates the essentials as well as the online stuff.

I think I might try Bpp for F6, can always buy back up books if I feel its not enough.
20 something days till the results from f5 the wait is soooo long! But I have F4 computer on the 12th Feb anyway so will wait till then to book F6
    Thanks for your input :)

Made a decision, based on what I saw when I tried to apply, BPP only give you 6 months online material access (which if I failed F5 will not give me enough time) and Kaplan seem to be longer AND Kaplan you can start whenever, BPP the videos start on a set date- which wont matter this time round but if I want to get in early next time round might be annoying.
    - Kaplan it is then, will let you know how I get on :)
