Hi all,
Ive recently started my own business, set up VT software, bought a laptop and printer etc
collected quotes for professional indemnity insurance and created my website etc.
Asked my boss for reference so I can apply for MAAT and she hasn't done it.
Ive been there 8 months but my boss is saying because I didn't do AAT whilst I was there she doesn't think she can give me a reference.
Worried as I know that if I don't get my MAAT I wont be covered for MLR. I do know I can register direct with HMRC for this, but would rather do it through AAT as id get all the advice etc.
Can anyone advise me what to do next? this is really stressing me out.
Also can anyone point me in the direction of a check list of things I need to of done before I can officially take on work.
Ive registered with HMRC, Collected quotes for insurance should of chosen an insurer by weekend. Applied for bank account. Emailed council regarding MLR just in case. I know I need to consider a letter of enagement (set out terms of agreement ) but not sure what to include.
Do I need ICO ?
Thanks in advance
Nicola

Hi @nicd1981
Regarding your MAAT application: Your boss needs to realise that the reference you need has nothing to do with what you did when you were studying AAT. We know everything that you did whilst you were studying AAT as we have your results! We just need her to confirm that you meet the work experience criteria.
If you feel like you need help with regards to approaching her again, give our team a call on 020 3735 2468 and they can advise you on how to explain to her that she's perfectly suitable for this reference.
Regards
