On being approached for work experience

I'm curious to know how MIPs would feel about this question I saw posted somewhere else recently. What would be the best way for someone to approach you with regards speculative applications for work experience?

I would still expect them to contact me as if it were a speculative application for a permanent/full time job with a covering letter and a CV (printed and posted; not emailed).1

@Gem7321 Interesting! May I ask why you'd want to receive print rather than email?

For me it's purely so that I know that they can write a traditional letter! Even though most of my day-to-day communication is by email, certain things (ie. engagement letters, accounts and tax returns) will still be posted to clients with a professional letter.
Also, it means that it has to be physically opened so there is more chance of me actually seeing it! Whereas if I were to receive an email with a subject around the lines of work experience request I would probably delete it without even opening it.2
