Hello

I am looking to start my ACCA studies and I am wondering if its is possible to study and pass the F4-F9 modules through self studying with the Kaplan books I am not referring to distance learning.

Thanks

I self studied with BPP for F8 & 9 and passed first time, and think it would have been possible for the earlier papers (I also did it for the P papers). As long as you have the discipline and motivation, it should be doable. Try it for one paper and see how you get on, good luck!

Thanks Rozzi Rainbow. Just wondering what order I should do the papers in I would ideally want to take 2 papers per sitting until they bring in the 4 sittings per year i am anticipating December sitting if I start this month or next month

If taking two papers per sitting, personally I wouldn't take F4 and F8 together as they are both very written based. I would start with the papers which follow on from either the latest modules you took at AAT, or the ones you found most interesting/were best at. Give yourself the best start! I started with F5 and 6, which I think worked well.

I have been looking on the Kaplan Financial website which they offer the ACCA qualification through Distance learning for £299 or I can purchase from Kaplan publishing their complete study resources, the online tuition and revision videos for £168 total which is nearly half of the distance learning but I most of what's included in the distance learning packages minus the personal tutor the mock exam with feedback and the assessed question practice.

Which options should I go for ?

Depends how confident you feel - for the papers I self studied, I only paid for the textbooks and revision kit, I didn't have online tuition. You could always try the cheaper option for one or two papers, if cost is important to you, then you'll know for next time whether you think you need to pay for additional support. (Or vice versa!)

I've also heard that Open Tuition is very good for student support, but didn't use it myself.

I have self studied for F4-F9 and P3 so far and have passed all of them. I just used BPP textbooks and revision kits with no tutor/online interaction. It is definitely doable. I am now using a website called ACOWtancy.com which I would highly recommend. Most of the materials are free but you can now purchase the classroom for half price at £39. The website has renewed my motivation for ACCA exams by being so fresh and such a dynamic learning tool. I am feeling more confident for my June exams than I have for any previous exams!
