Advice needed for considering MIP

Hello, I don't often venture in here. I'm an FMAAT and a bursar in a secondary school. I've been asked by a couple of very small PTA's to do an independent examination of their end of year books. If I only have two 'clients' and I'm doing it voluntry, do I need to register? Do I need to register on HMRC and will I still need to get insurance?
I really want to help them as schools struggle, bit want to make sure I'm covered.
Thanks
Luma

The AAT have guidance for these types of situations. Have a nose around the MIP section or give the MIP team a call.Regards,

Hi Luma,
Regulation 8 is probably what you're looking for: https://www.aat.org.uk/about-aat/mip-guidelines-and-regulations/mip/regulation-8-members-undertaking-voluntary-work
But it sounds like the upshot is - no you don't need to register as a MIP, subject to the conditions in Regulation 8 (which does specifically mention the need fr PI insurance though).0 -
Brilliant, thank you, that was what I was after!0
