Need advice on how to get a work experience, no- uk education backgroud.

I moved to uk 2 years ago and have been unemployed since. I worked in media industry before I moved here. Decided to take a step to change and build a career in accounting, and currently taking 2 units of the AAT level 2 (I couldn't afford to pay for the full level yet). I have had some advice from an accountant to take a volunteer bookking, but after looking around I couldn't find one in Nottingham. I want to work but i am not sure where to start. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you
