i am really confused what sign I need to use to indicate negative numbers. On the introductory screen It is:Minus signs should be used to indicate negative numbers. However on the sample assessment-questions 6 and 7 variances are shown in brackets £fav/ (adv) and there is no clear instruction what should be used. Brackets? Minus signs? Please can you help me?

Brackets or minus signs are acceptable, in my organistion we always use brackets as ink smudges or marks on paper may be mistaken for a minus sign - I hate failing to balance because of poor quality paper or an accidental ink mark!
