ACCA or CIMA

I'm only on my Level 2 AAT at the moment so I've got a long time to make my decision but just thinking of what to do in the future. I plan to continue and complete my Level 3 and 4 AAT but just wondering what other options there are for me?

Also, what is the difference between ACCA and CIMA and which would be the best route to take? Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Thanks :)

From my experience, ACCA tends to be more for financial accounting roles eg working in a practice or as a MIP and CIMA is more common amongst people working in industry

Just to note: about half of the ACCA membership do not work in practice, they work in commerce or industry or in the public sector.

True, but it is not a dedicated management accounting qualification. CIMA is. Of course there is also CiPFA for public bodies.

ACA/ACCA are more flexible as a qualification as they are accepted in industry and practice, but the material itself is less relevant to management accounting.

If you're unsure where your future lies ACCA would be the better option.
