Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) is the largest train operating company in the UK with a workforce over 6,500 and revenues exceeding £1.3billion. The GTR network includes Great Northern, Thameslink, Southern and Gatwick Express services stretching from Bedford and Cambridge to Brighton and Sevenoaks. Owned by Govia Ltd, a Go-Ahead/Keolis joint venture, GTR is a recently created transformational franchise offering new trains, more services, better technology and higher standards across its vast network.
Job Description
Working closely with the Financial Planning Manager and various operational areas of the business, you will work as part of a team dedicated to supporting, challenging and improving the commercial focus of the organisation. Your responsibilities will include:
Production of forecasts, budgets, corporate plans, periodic and ad-hoc reports for various operational business units.
Delivering meaningful analysis and recommendations which highlight key trends and issues in operational performance to support improvements, maximise profitability and identify commercial opportunities.
Work with, influence and challenge a large stakeholder group with a view to act as a business change agent and trusted finance consultant to drive continuous improvement.
The Successful Applicant
This role is best suited to a talented and outgoing finance professional with exceptional people skills and a hunger for excellence in the delivery of their work. You must be a qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent) with demonstrable experience of working with and influencing a diverse stakeholder group with practical financial and commercial reasoning. You will ideally have experience working with large organisations, either from within practice or similar industry businesses.
