The group operates a centralised Treasury within a decentralised business model. Group Treasury is based in London and is a value-add service centre responsible for the funding and financial risk management of the group. It acts as an in-house bank, providing significant transactional support to business units, centralising cash management via a number of pooling arrangements, and providing support in the management of foreign exchange and commodity exposures. Group Treasury also makes foreign currency or cross-border commercial payments on behalf of many business units and head office companies.

Job Description

Role purpose:

Key role purposes are to:

Develop and implement strong treasury processes and controls in the back office function;
Challenge the Treasury front office team and provide independent control over, and monitoring of, their activities in relation to compliance with treasury policies, processes and controls;
Provide comprehensive operational and control reporting on treasury activities;
Adopt continuous improvement across all key treasury processes;
Produce and develop timely treasury accounting and financial information; and
Perform other accounting tasks as part of the head office finance function.

The Successful Applicant

Competency Requirements:

A strong understanding of key treasury controls, accounting issues, systems and policies applicable to a large international organisation
At least five years of financial control experience in a corporate treasury environment, preferably with exposure to derivatives, hedge accounting and other financial instruments
Good general IFRS knowledge, with particular emphasis on IAS 39 and IFRS 9
Strong computer literacy
High energy and enthusiasm
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Team player able to work across treasury, finance and the business units

Strong relationship builder:

Able to build and maintain effective and challenging working relationships with a range of people at all levels, both internal and external; and
Experience of interacting with senior stakeholders.

Leadership - a strong ability to work without direct daily supervision and provide leadership to direct reports, peers and supervisors
Able to work in a flexible manner to meet changing priorities
Exhibits a "can do" approach and a desire to develop the Treasury back office to meet the evolving needs of the group.

Professional qualifications

Qualified accountant - ACCA, CIMA OR ACA - Essential
Qualified treasurer - ACT - Desirable
