I've been having a hard time getting the retained earnings and total equity. isn't it Revenues-cogs then profit + 0 (if no previous income) - dividends - Treasury stock? and also, where will I put the depreciation expenses? is it under the contra assets?
Let's say we have:
common stock 1000
dividends paid 30000
Treasury stock 25000
COGS 75000
sales 123000
depreciation expense 18000
What will be the total equity?

Thanks!!

    Total equity would be...

    Common stock + treasury stock = 26000
    +
    Sales - COGS - depreciation = 30000
    -
    Dividends paid = 30000
    =
    Total equity 26000

    "isn't it Revenues-cogs then profit"

    Yes, it is Gross profit.

"where will I put the depreciation expenses?"

Take depreciation from gross profit to get net profit.

"is it under the contra assets?"

    No.
