Bad Debt Write of when Cash Accounting

When trying to write off some bad debt on Sage, a message appears advising it will not be included in the VAT return. Does this matter as it is Cash Accounting? Surely there are no implications as it hasn't formed part of the VAT return at any point anyway?

Hi Melb2902,
I do not use Sage myself but how old is the debt? maybe it is just letting you know that it wont be in the VAT return as claimable as the debt is not yet old enough or to old (needs to be over 6 months to 4 years and 6 months).
Not sure if this helps but maybe something to think about?Connect with me on Linkedin0
