Anyone want to try these practice problems with me?
I have some practice problems we can try on quickbooks, any eager bookkeeping students out there would like to try these with me? I already have completed two.
Let me know, and then I would post them.......
It would be a great opportunity for us to learn bookkeeping together.
Regards,

Being obtuse is a hobby of mine. I quietly attempt to offer retorts too, although some people find them offensive.
I like students, students without attitudes and those who try to solve a problem themselves.1 -
I think the point which maybe has not been made is this is an AAT forum, not a Quickbooks forum. I've never seen Quickbooks, which is not to say it doesn't have a number of users in the UK, though AAT test students on Sage and Excel, thats it. There could literally be only 1 or 2 people who regularly look at this forum who know anything about it. At work I use Oracle Applications and Unit4, but I wouldn't post anything on either of those here, there are better specialist forums that would, and it would be problematic to post anything without anonymising data.
There is not the great camaraderie among fellow students and members online, all in this together. I've noticed plenty of very able people join, log in to ask 1 question, get their answer (or not) and promptly disappear without a trace and a consideration of helping others who might value their knowledge. Maybe they are the masters of saying no at work and getting things done (for themself). The few regulars who do post have to pick between well meaning questions and random stuff with little or no context detail or meaning that unsurprisingly gets no response or a less than positive one.0 -
What I find most amusing is that accountants have the strongest and quirkiest sense of sarcasm. Perhaps it's all the number bashing? Don't really know! What I do know is it's amusing.

You mean sometimes you actually try & help? :'O! Scandalous! Retorts are so much more fun.0 -

Im happy for him to waste your time. I did try to warn you by explaining about the site and what it was for. Besides Ive seen your exact same entry on other forums and they tried as well. Although one of your comments on one of the other sites also indicated you worked at a high level in Accountancy, including tax and audit. Given bookkeeping is one of the first of the building blocks for Accountancy I wouldve thought you wouldnt need the help of this forum at this level anyway.0 -
Sorry I've been busy waxing the Maserati.
Yes I occasionally offer advise for free.
Some students are students. Some students are accountants. The latter being close to a dichotomy.
Ironic really.-1 -

All this time you people have been posting you could of done the exercises, so disappointing.
This is the 'student discussion' forum....and it doesnt matter what software you use, you are just posting a trial balance.0 -
I have already done the first three chapters, and posted the trial balance and no one could even check it. Shame.Bertie said:Being obtuse is a hobby of mine. I quietly attempt to offer retorts too, although some people find them offensive.

It's not a forum for any student, it's the AAT forum for AAT students. Clue is in the title. You are not doing the AAT! Most students don't use Quickbooks on this forum, nor generally in the UK. But you are right, the question could be done on any old software, or on the back of a fag packet. It's not difficult, but frankly no one is interested. Besides the question did not just ask for a trial balance. You haven't posted your workings as requested, so if you can't be bothered why should anyone on here!! Not too bright. I can see you have posted another question in the Intuit site, which actually breaches copyright!!!! Then , hilariously, expecting some random fellow student to help you, it's like the blind leading the blind. Why don't you just pay for a course and do the course, like students on here do!!!!
Pretty obvious what Bertie is trying to say. But blunt or subtle, you don't get it

and how am I supposed to post my "workings" if I did it in quickbooks? and I didn't expect a fellow random student to help me, they volunteered since they knew the benefit of practicing a bookkeeping question!0 -
Omg, you say you have done audit, well clearly not!!
This has already been covered. Supply the Audit trail!!! Supply a variety reports showing everything that has gone through each income, cost, asset, liability account code etc, including the ones asked for in the question!!!!
A trial balance can balance and still be wrong....surely something you would know as you have worked at such a 'high level' in Accountancy. Or is that just something you said to try to put down people you perceived as just bookkeepers on the other forum. You certainly like to tell people what to do rather than ask politely.
Yes the student volunteered, yes there is a benefit to learning, but learning with the right information, plus getting verification that something is correct from someone skilled at the subject, not as you chose, a random student. She was indeed a random student - you did not know her, nor her capabilities. If it is two students who are checking each other's work then how can you possibly verify what you have done is actually correct when you both don't know what you are doing. Ever heard the phrase 'You don't know what you don't know.'?
0 out of 10 for effort.
10/10 for persistence, but still no-one is interested. Maybe if you changed your approach and attitude they would be.
But you have given us all a giggle.
Join the Canadian bookkeepers professional body and do their recommended courses.or join the AAT and do theirs.0 -
Oh and by the way- why have you got no answers to these bookkeeping questions? To tight to pay for them? Well use some of your hard earned cash that you offered to donate to this site to pay for them.0
