Control Account Reconciliation

Hi,

I'm struggling to get my head around which way round to post the debit and credit adjustments when it comes to reconciling the control account. I understand how to make the adjustment but then how do you know whether to add or subtract from the original balance to find the correct one?

Any help would be much appreciated!
