False accounting

Hi, I was stupidly convicted in 2006 for false accounting. As I feel it's time for a career change, I'm very interested in learning either accounting/bookkeeping. Would this be viable given I have a criminal record even though it is spent? I am ashamed I did it and will be gutted if it means I can't follow my ambition! Please can anyone help??
