Is the ground rent for a furnished buy to let holiday home in the UK an allowable expense?

    Although FHL have special tax rules, normal rental business calculation rules apply.

    Box 6 Rent paid, repairs, insurance and costs
    of services provided

    You can claim FHL expenses, such as:
    • rents, rates, insurance and ground rent
    • property repairs and maintenance
    • costs of services you provided, including wages
    • insurance against loss of rents – however, if you
    claim under your own insurance policy, put any
    money you received in box 5
