Submission of sole trader Tax return

Hi I’m doing a tax return for a sole trader (a friend) and just wondered if I need to produce a profit and loss account balance sheet etc or whether the tax return is sufficient?

Although a P&L and a reconciliation to the taxable profits may be useful for the client - I always get the client to agree with these before preparing the tax return.
