So i was on the 2013 syllabus but now have to convert to 2016, resulting in having to sit this annoying extra unit.
Is it really difficult?
What does it include?
Is the layout the same as the other exams?

Yes, it is difficult, but not impossible to pass.
It consists of 6 tasks, 2 MCQ tasks (20 marks each) and 4 writing tasks (15 marks each):
1. Accounting function - MCQ
2. Budgetary reporting - writing task
3. Accounting control systems and procedures - writing task
4. Decision making and control - writing task
5. Ratios - MCQ
6. SWOT analysis - internal control - writing task
The layout is the same as the other exams.5 -
