I’m coming to the end of aat level 4 and looking for some advice.
The end goal is to become a forensic accountant. Does anyone have advice on best route to take after AAT, ACCA, ACA, etc. or does it matter too much

I believe the ICAEW have their own forensic accounting group. However I believe experience is the key. Do you currently work in forensic accounting? If not do you work in a practice that offers this service?
It's complex work. I worked for a practice that did forensic accounting and I've been involved in two cases during my career. It's painful and a long process but can be interesting.
