£40,000 - £50,000, Central London, Permanent
We are currently looking for an Underwriter with experience in assessing risk and analysing data within the mortgage industry and who is attracted to a company that can offer excellent career development incentives. The hiring company is known for its positive culture and ethos and through its goal to expand is looking for a mandated Underwriter to join the team.

Key skills will be an extensive knowledge within the a mandated role, with the ability and know-how to make appropriate lending decisions. You’ll be joining a supportive team of Underwriters that ensure customer applications are underwritten efficiently.

The role in detail:
- Understand and evaluate risk associated with every application
- Obtain all necessary documentation to make accurate and appropriate lending decisions
- Manually underwrite applications, holding a lending mandate
- Liaise in a professional manner with third parties to fully understand applications and risk
- Manage own caseload and underwrite cases in accordance with company policy and guidelines
- Keep up to date with and apply current regulatory, legal and compliance practices

Mortgage Underwriter


£26,000 - £30,000 Berkhamsted Permanent

Are you an experienced Mortgage Underwriter, working within regulated the first and second charge market? Are you CeMAP qualified or equivalent and do you enjoy advising, underwriting and processing mortgage applications to find the right outcome for the customer? We are currently recruiting for a new role due to company expansion within a well established financial services company. The organisation is looking for committed individuals and in return will review your salary on successful completion of your probation.

As an Underwriter you will:
- Ensure clients receive the very best advice possible for their circumstances
- Process applications
- Build and maintain relationships with third parties to ensure applications are completed on time
- Respond to incoming customer telephone calls, identifying and meeting customer requirements
- Complete all related underwriting and administration activities including chasing required documentation in order to complete customer applications
- Carry out Credit Reference checks when required on all applicants
- Ensure compliance including complying with Money Laundering/Fraud Prevention/Data Protection/FCA regulations and individual compliance with the company’s TCF policy.

You will have previous mortgage underwriting experience and be part or fully CeMAP qualified (or equivalent). You will have experience of handling queries with excellent communication and administration skills. This is a busy role and offers the opportunity to take ownership of cases and see applications through from initial enquiry to completion.

Underwriter

This job invites the successful candidate to experience not only an opportunity to facilitate and progress mortgage applications but to also enjoy generous benefits. Joining an existing team allows you to learn from experienced mortgage experts as you progress in your role.

Tasks:
You’ll be tasked with ensuring that customer mortgage applications are underwritten efficiently in line with company quality standards.

Day to Day: Mon-Fri 9am-5:30pm

• Understand and evaluate the risks associated with every application
• Obtain all necessary documentation to make accurate and appropriate lending decisions
• Manually underwrite applications efficiently and effectively
• Liaise in a professional manner with third parties regarding applications
• Manage own caseload and underwrite cases in accordance with company policy
• Keep up to date with and apply current regulatory, legal and compliance practices
• Continually look at ways to improve underwriting processes and procedures within the company.

Previous Experience:
You will have experience in underwriting mortgages, ideally holding a mandate although this is not essential. You will also have a good understanding of FCA regulatory obligations.
