Level 4 or ACCA?

Hi!

I am have been studying AAT Level 3 for nearly a year now, I have been doing this as an apprenticeship through my local college and am due to complete in a few months time.

I have been doing well with it and i am planning on progressing onto a higher qualification. My original plan was to complete the Level 4 and then move onto ACCA. Although, I recently read that you don't necessarily have to do the Level 4 before you can do ACCA (It just means you will have to complete a few more units).

I would prefer to move straight onto ACCA, but i wanted some advice as to whether or not this is the best idea. If anyone has had any experience with this or knows the pros and cons for either or, any help would be appreciated!

I have just moved from ACCA as the AAT is more in line with my job.

From my point of view i would say complete AAT first then move to ACCA.

ACCA is a whole new monster in terms of knowledge you are expected to learn. Level 4 will help you on your way

Agreed with @pauljaco

Level 2/3 AAT it's not difficult at all, so don't be fooled that Level 4 or even ACCA might be similar difficulty.

Complete Level 4 first, then see how you do with Level 4, and if you still willing to go for ACCA then do it.

P.S. Do you have to do an apprenticeship for Level 4? As I think you can complete Level 4 quicker without apprenticeship? I've done Level 4 in around 8 months I think.

No, I don't think Level 4 is available as an apprenticeship where i am, Id prefer to just do the course on its own anyway

I used to be tutor for BPP, the general consensus was that those who had completed AAT were better prepared for the later ACCA exams than those who had done F1 - F3/foundation stage (AAT exemptions available) of ACCA.
