An opportunity for a Group Accountant - Statutory Reporting has arisen in the Group Finance department in the Finance Headquarters of Rolls-Royce in Derby.

In this role you will work closely with key functions including Investor Relations, Treasury, Taxation and Company Secretariat. With oversight of the whole Group, you will gain a good understanding of the Group organisation, its activities and results, and the major issues facing the businesses.

You should possess strong technical skills with knowledge of accounting standards, and have experience in consolidations and statutory accounts preparation (together with knowledge of SAP and HFM). Additional qualities include good analytical skills with attention to detail, good IT skills, resilience to working under pressure, and the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation.

The department is responsible for the management and statutory accounts for the Group and maintaining the Group’s accounting policies. You will report to the Group Chief Accountant. A significant aspect of the role is to advise businesses on the application of the Group’s accounting policies. There is regular contact with Finance staff at all levels throughout the Group. This can lead to involvement in special projects, in particular the accounting considerations around new acquisitions and disposals.

Key Accountabilities:

- Prepare the financial statements for the remaining complex UK entities and co-ordinate the preparation, review and finalisation of the remaining simple UK entities, ca. 20 entities, with the external auditor. In addition, act as statutory reporting centre of expertise / excellence for non-corporate UK entities.
- Support the production of the interim and year-end financial statements for the Group.
- Advise businesses on the application of the Group’s accounting policies.
- Have regular contact with Finance staff at all levels throughout the Group. This can lead to involvement in special projects, in particular the accounting considerations around new acquisitions and disposals.
- Be responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts for certain Head Office companies.
