We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, proactive and professional Finance Officer to support the finance function across our Trust.
The role is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday all year round, with annual leave to be taken during school closure periods to accommodate the needs of the business.
Role overview
To be successful in this role you will have experience of working in a finance environment, as well as excellent administration and prioritisation skills. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail are essential to the Finance Officer Role, as well as good communication and problem solving skills. You will also need to be able to assimilate new information quickly and work in an environment that is fast paced with competing demands. Along with strong IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook, you will be able to manage your own workload and respond swiftly to tight deadlines.
You will work as part of a team to ensure the timely and accurate processing of all the Trust’s financial transactions, whilst supporting all schools across the Trust and responding to day to day queries from colleagues. You will be responsible for all aspects of book keeping, including sales and purchase ledger input, reconciliations and nominal ledger administration.
You will need to be either AAT qualified, actively working towards this qualification, or qualified by experience. You must also hold GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above. You will need to have knowledge of GDPR and Data Protection and be able to maintain confidentiality.
About the Mowbray Education Trust
The Mowbray Education Trust (MET) is a multi-academy trust currently educating around 2,500 children from the age of 2 to 16 in the town of Melton Mowbray and surrounding villages in the Borough of Melton. The MET currently has one secondary school, five primary schools and one preschool; with potential numerical and geographical growth in the future.
Melton Mowbray is a rural market town in Leicestershire which is easily commutable from Grantham, Leicester, Loughborough, Nottingham and Oakham.
The MET has a central support services team, with staff managing Estates, Finance, HR, IT and Operations, across our schools. The central team are based at offices within John Ferneley College in Melton Mowbray.

The remuneration package includes a competitive salary, access to a contributory public-sector pension scheme and a generous annual leave entitlement:
Salary £19,173 to £19,554 per annum
Local Government Pension Scheme membership
32 days’ annual leave per year including public holidays.
