Ratio Analysis

I wonder if someone can help me please.
Am I right in saying that in the exam we only do calculations in regards to ratios or could there be a potentially question which would require us to write a report based on the ratios?
I thought the written tasks only include variances, optimal production and such like.

I can't quite remember, but I think the written question requires you to make recommendations based on ratios.
