Qualifications:
Accounting qualifications are essential for a career in accountancy.
AAT :
Association of Accounting Technicians a foundation qualification. AAT is suitable for those who have up to A-level qualifications. There are no pre-requisites to register; however, candidates must be 16 and over.
It consists of 4 levels:
AAT Level 1: Introductory Certificate in Accounting
AAT Level 2: Foundation Certificate in Accounting
AAT Level 3: Advanced Diploma in Accounting
AAT Level 4: Professional Diploma in Accounting
ICAEW (or ACA):
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. To register, you will require a minimum of 2 A-level passes and 3 GCSE passes. There are three levels to this qualification:
Certificate Level: consists of 6 modules.
Professional Level: consists of 6 modules.
Advanced Level: consists of 3 modules.
ACCA:
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. You do not require a degree to register; however, a degree in a relevant subject may give you exemptions in some modules.
Applied Knowledge: contains three modules
Applied Skills: contains six Modules
Strategic Professional: contains four modules
Ethics and Professional Skills: exposure of real-life business environment to build ethical and professional skills
CIMA:
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. There are no requirements to register.
There are four levels to this qualification:
Strategic Level
Management Level
Operational Level
Certificate Level
