the AAT need to put the pressure on ofqual and get this pushed through.

I know it must be easier said than done but they've got to show flexibility in these times!

Just my opinion

Out of interest how are they maintaining the the standard of examinations?

Surely sitting them at home opens the possibility of compromising the security of the exam?

There's surely no way of knowing whether a student is just using the textbooks as opposed to using their knowledge of the subject?

I think the explanation of this was given during the last update from CEO of AAT: https://www.aatcomment.org.uk/audience/students/covid-19/covid-19-an-update-from-aats-ceo-to-students/

'Allowing students to take assessments at home is something that we have explored.

Whilst some other Awarding Organisations do use this type of technology, it is not currently deployed for qualifications like AAT’s Accounting Qualifications as our qualification is described by regulators as “high stakes” which means the assessments have to be taken under strict conditions.'

Yh, I've listened to the video.....

They need to make it happen tbh.... you could argue that all accounting qualifications are high stakes....

Let's see what the government advice is this week

Yesterday I have looked at Cima’s explanation videos re online exams. They have very strict and they are much harder than going onto a centre.

You can’t leave your desk (not even for toilet) or even stand up for a second. you can’t use paper to write your calculations but instead use the digital whiteboard and camera must be on at all times

I've asked the AAT about this but only in relation to modular assessments, not the synoptic and at Foundation Level, suggesting that the assessment time be reduced by 15 - 30 mins to compensate for it being 'open book'. Every candidate who knows the subject would probably be OK but any candidate who would need to refer to text books is unlikely to have enough time to complete the assessment.

There is already now going to be a backlog of assessments that will need to be rescheduled for July & August if any colleges or other exam centres are open; or September & October. There is always the danger of another lockdown and then the 2020/21 academic year will be screwed as well. AAT need to develop a post-June strategy pdq to let the candidates know where they stand.

100% agree....... if they can't get ofqual to authorise remote exams.. training providers are going to have to come up with extra exam slots due to the backlog

The local Kaplan centre I normally use to sit exams is currently fully booked up to the end of June......... if extra slots aren't opened up students could be waiting months and months to sit exams
