Hello,

I'll be starting my Level 2 AAT Apprenticeship in the next couple of weeks - I was just wondering if anyone had any advice/tips for the course?

Also, I was considering doing a SAGE course alongside my Level 2 AAT - would anyone recommend this?

Thank you :)

I would recommend looking at the double entry because it is hard at first.

Just remember debit is in and credit is out.

    D
    E
    A
    D

    C
    L
    I
    C

    D is debit
    E is expense
    A is asset
    D is drawings

    C is capital
    L is liability
    I is income
    C is capital

When either of these increase ie. the asset increases then it stays as a debit however when either the DEAD decreases it turns into a credit. The same with CLIC when they increase it stays as a credit however if it decreases it changes to a debit.

In level 2 it is basically

    Purchases

    Dr purchases
    Dr Vat
    CR PLCA/cash

    Sales
    CR income
    CR vat
    Dr asset

Remember each debit and credit must equal the same. ie dr 50 cr 50

We go into this in more detail in level 3 but just try to get the basics first. Level 2 seems ages ago now for me

    The maths is simple
    Net /5 for vat
    Gross /6 for vat
Net plus VAT comes to gross

    Hmmm…

I think that is all the help I can give ohhh look at the FIFO, LIFO AND AVCO first in first out last in first out and weighted average.

The synoptic is the hard bit which combines most of the stuff into one paper.

If u need anymore help I’m here.

There are five exams, will there was I don’t know if the syallbus had changes

    Bookeeping transactions
    Elements of costing
    Sage
    Bookeeping controls
    Synoptic

I would also recommend, from my point of view, do not get the exam remarked. Cause the computers mark the answers, but the written parts you may want to get remarked if you are 1% or max 2% out as AAT have a very strict marking policy. I think they have like 3 people that they go to before the mark is released.

You may also learn PEARLS for the bookeeping… purchases expenses assets
    Revenue liability sales

Also, if you need help for the exam you are studying. Just enter on YT first intuition and then the exam name. They give you an explanation plus there are questions afterwards to test your knowledge.

I did my last exam for L2 on 26/08 with BPP and am waiting for my results! There are 4 units & 4 exams. We didn’t cover sage at this level so I don’t think it’s a necessity just yet but it doesn’t hurt to explore the system a bit. There was a section in one of the units (principles of costing I think) on Excel but it was very very basic. My wonderful teacher taught me a couple of things in the Introduction To Bookkeeping unit and that is you DRive on the left and CRash on the right! And she told us to remember that a credit is cash out! DEAD CLIC is also super helpful to learn!

Well it would be DR the asset and CR the bank.

Cause the bank is going down and it automatically changes to a credit. And the asset increases as you are getting money.

    Tbh my teachers were ok.

In the UK we drive on the left and crash on the right; so debits go on the left and credits go on the right. Just something small that helped me remember! The L2 synoptic was fine, still waiting for my results though, it’s been 12 long days though ?

Hey Loren1210, I am starting the AAT Level 2, and maybe we could start a student chat together to study together and ask questions if we have any? :)

Okay? It wasn’t meant to help you? I was answering loren1210’s post with tips that I found helpful? And allegedly you’ve done L2 and L3 so it’s not relevant to you anyway?

    @Sabbiem

Why have you used the word allegedly? If you are trying to imply that I may not have achieved a merit in both levels then you are incorrect.

I don’t want an argument AAT team, but I would like to know what he says. I will leave it on my behalf.
