Hello,
I am 46 years old and have been forced to close my business due it performing poorly.
Am I too old to apply for AAT trainee vacancies. They are all advertised for school leavers.
I do not have a bachelors degree and my highest qualifications are A-Level at BBB.
I would very much like to do the AAT-ACA fast track.
All ACCA and ACA trainee vacancies are looking for graduates.
Any advice please.
Thank you.

It is never too late to become an AAT Trainee.
Accountancy Firms that continue to look for graduates are starting to look more and more out of date. The big firms now offer apprenticeships. Have you thought about an apprenticeship?1 -
Amelie, I hope you're able to read this three months after you posted!
I'm 56 years old and started AAT training last year, just passed Level 2. I can't promise the training will lead to anything at our age, but I don't think you should hesitate if it's what you want to do.
Apprenticeships are a bit hard to find sometimes, especially if you have no experience. On the other hand you may find that firms will value your greater life experience, over school-leavers or graduates who might be a bit young and naive.
What's more, it looks like you have experience of running your own business (so do I). You must have done some accounting as part of that, even if it was just an Excel spreadsheet! You can make that a big selling point.0
