Prospective Client Query

Hi All,

I hope you are all well. I have got a prospective client who wants me to do catchup on their bookkeeping but they have mentioned some other bits whilst they were on the call with me yesterday.

Firstly, they want to show a profit because they are looking for a bank loan and they do not want to hinder their chances. They are at the end of second year and they are confident that they have made profit in the second year but are not sure about first year.

I have told them clearly that I would not be manipulating the accounts and would provide them with complete bookkeeping where every thing would be done ethically. They are fine with it as they have an Accountant who is willing to sign off on the accounts and manipulate it in their own way.

They want me to do regular bookkeeping after this initial catch up work but I am bit hesitant because I do not want to perform bookkeeping for a client where I know the accounts would be manipulated at the year end.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thank you in advance.

Personally, I wouldn’t do their accounts at all.
