Apprenticeship vacancies and applications for over 30s

Good afternoon

As anyone with a non-accounting background with zero experience and over 30 managed to secure an apprenticeship as an accounts/finance assistant?
Most of the vacancies I have come across have an age limit.
For those who have been successful what was the interview process like?
Did you have to undergo an aptitude test?
Did you get asked very technical questions involving prepayments, accruals, double entry mostly financial accounting questions or management accounting questions?
Were you able to negotiate your salary?
As for the apprenticeship itself did you learn and gain valuable experience or were just given simple, monotonous tasks to complete?
