Hello everyone -

please find below a message from our Quality Assurance department.

We are currently in the process of reviewing the guidance which is currently on the AAT website at www.aat.org.uk/students/mas_help.cfm

The current guidance largely relates to the 'old' standards and needs to be reviewed to update it in relation to the revised standards. However, we would like to take this opportunity to take on board your views as to how this guidance could be improved.

We would appreciate it if you could take a little time to read the guidance at the above URL and to advise us on ways in which we can better meet your needs.

The aim of the Unit 10 project is to develop not only your technical skills in reviewing accounting systems but wider skills such as project research, project management, higher level business communication skills and other interpersonal skills. Employers value these skills as accounting technicians need to function in a wider role within a business, other than carrying out pure accounting tasks, especially so at the managerial level. Thus, in enabling you to develop these skills we do not feel it useful to show someone else's project as an example of past practice. We think it would be better to show excerpts of others' work to show how they have approached particular aspects of the standards. This would enable you to look at particular issues that you are familiar with in your own accounting environment, that you wish to use as the basis of your project.

Its not just the guidance that we want to hear about. You may have other issues about the unit 10 project, for example, the standards, or you find it difficult to know what type of project is suitable to use as the basis of the project. Let us know, as without your assistance we are not able to adequately meet your needs.

Please provide all feedback via e-mail to marlene.prentice@aat.org.uk

Thank you for your assistance.
