Hi all.

I am halfway through the Technician level and have 2 exams left to take in June. Does anyone know if you can move on to ACCA or CIMA in the September if you fail 1 of the AAT exams in June, or do you have to wait til you have passed all and have your certificates?

Sammy xx

Nope you must have the MAAT completed including MAS project to move on to anything.0 -

That's not quite true Roxy, you just wouldn't get all your exemptions (I'm speaking in terms of ACCA here). I finished technician in August and applied straight away but had to send in a statement of achievement to get exemptions from the whole of level 1. You can go on to ACCA after intermediate with no exemptions but if you complete all of technician, you can start at stage 2.

Annette0 -
Moving on to ACCA/CIMA
Well i read the enquiry basically as exemptions for stage 1 in which case you MUST finish amd pass all units at Technician level and get teh MAAT to be exempt from the first stage foundation CIMA ACCA.0 -

Just to clarify (because I was in this position re Cima last year - I believe ACCA is similar but don't know for a fact). It's correct to say that you can register anyway, but only get your exemptions with finishing and passing the whole of AAT. In practise with Cima, if you want to take exams at Managerial Level (ie taking your exemptions from the Certificate stage) in the next available sitting eg May 05 if you've got AAT results in Feb 05, you would need to have passed everything. In practise the timing is very tight, I managed by registering before I got my results, and then claiming the exemptions, but only got it agreed literally days before the deadline for Cima exam entry came. I had to keep hassling. Also to clarify, you don't have to be an MAAT, only to have passed the whole of Intermediate and Technician.0 -

You're right Roxy, you can only get full stage 1 exemption with complete AAT but you can start at stage 1 with intermediate completed. Often the question has been whether to finish AAT technician and be exempt stage 1 or to go straight from intermediate to start ACCA from scratch.

Annette0 -

Currently i study AAT Technician and ACCA part 2a at the same time. i also registered as an ACCA student, but ACCA don't allow me to take the examination until i pass my aat technician.
0
